Arrive at Glasgow

Depart from Glasgow airport and head north up the side of Loch Lomond stopping at the quaint village of Luss where we’ll have a boat ride on the Loch and time to wander the village. We’ll continue on north up through the Trossachs through some beautiful scenery, and we’ll stop for lunch along the way. We’ll then head to Glencoe, where the famous battle took place in 1692, and tour the exhibit to learn the history of the Haunted Glen.

Travel to Fort William

We’ll continue to Fort William area where we’ll check into our hotel for the night, with time to explore the town, before our welcome dinner. (Dinner Included)

Travel to Isle of Skye

We’ll depart Ft. William and take the road less travelled to the Isle of Skye, stopping Neptune’s Staircase along the way, where boats go down the Caledonian Canal through a series of 9 Locks. We’ll then stop at Glenfinnan Monument, erected on the site of where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard to get the Clans to join him in his fight to regain the Crown. You’ll learn the history of this important event in Scottish History and can climb to the top of the Monument if you desire. We’ll then stop in Mallaig, a small fishing village on the west coast where we’ll have time for lunch (not included) before we get the ferry to the Isle of Skye. Once we get to Skye, we’ll head to Elgol where we’ll have a boat ride on the back of the Cuillin Hills where you can see Loch Corruisk, which is only accessible by boat or hiking over the mountains. Time to walk to the hidden Loch and take photos before we head back to Elgol, past the basking seals. We’ll check into our hotel in the Isle of Skye for the next two nights. (Breakfast Included)

Explore Isle of Skye

After your good Scottish breakfast, we’ll have a day trip north around the island starting with the Trotternish Peninsula stopping at the Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock for photo opportunities. We’ll then head up north where we’ll stop at the ruins of Duntulm Castle, one of the Clan McDonald Castles. We’ll stop Edinbane where we’ll visit a working Croft and learn about sheep farming on the island. Our next stop is in Portree where you’ll have time to explore the unique local artisan shops the town has to offer before heading to Kinloch Lodge to have Afternoon Tea at this beautiful hotel owned by Lord and Lady McDonald. We’ll return to our hotel for the evening, Isle of Skye. (Breakfast and Afternoon Tea Included)

Travel Day along the North Coast 500

On this day, we’ll head off the island via the Bridge back to the mainland, and we’ll stop at Eilean Donan Castle for a self-guided tour of this most photographed Castle in Scotland. We’ll then take the road north to Plockton where we’ll stop for a short visit in this quaint Highland Town. We’ll continue north along the North Coast 500 route through some truly stunning scenery, stopping along the way at some beautiful spots. We’ll stop for the night in a quaint hotel along the way. (Breakfast and Dinner Included)

Travel to Thurso

After breakfast, we’ll continue along more of the North Coast 500 and stop at Smoo Caves for a walk down to see the caves. Then we’ll have another stop at Strathnavar Museum and learn the history of the area, which was settled by the Clan McKay and about the Highland Clearances. We’ll continue along the coast past Dounray Nuclear Plant and on to Castle of Mey, which was the Scottish home of the Late Queen Mother. We’ll tour the castle, and it’s beautiful gardens before we take a short ride to John O Groats, the very last town in the North of Scotland before we return to Thurso for the night. Overnight Thurso. Travel to Kirkwall Orkney

On this day, we’ll get the morning Ferry to the Orkney Isles where we’ll tour some of the many well-known sites on the island, including the Italian Chapel, Churchill Barriers and Skara Brae. We’ll have some free time to explore the town after you check into your hotel in Kirkwall for the next two nights. Overnight Kirkwall Orkney.

Explore Orkney

We’ll have a local guide take everyone around to more of the sites, including the Standing Stones of Stenness, the Ring of Brodgar, St. Magnus Cathedral including Mae’s Howe, a Neolithic Chamber Tomb and more. Overnight Orkney. (Breakfast Included)

Travel to Inverness

After breakfast, we’ll head back to the ferry to get back to the Mainland where we continue down the 500 Coast overlooking the North Sea. We’ll stop at the Clan Gunn Museum (depending on opening times) for a look into the history of the area; then we’ll continue south with our nest stop at Dunrobin Castle, home of the Sutherland Clan and the Duke of Sutherland who was mainly behind the Highland Clearances. We’ll tour the castle and its beautiful gardens before we continue south with a short stop in Dornoch. We’ll spend the night near Inverness. (Breakfast Included)

Day Trip to Glen Affric

We’ll have a day trip down through Glen Affric (Glen means Valley) where you can have a beautiful walk through the woods; then we’ll continue to Urquhart Castle where we’ll tour this once largest of Castles in Scotland and learn it’s history. We’ll then spend some time in Inverness for lunch and maybe shopping before returning to our hotel for another night. (Breakfast Included)

Travel to Aberfeldy

After breakfast, we’ll head to the east side of Inverness where we’ll stop at the Culloden Battlefield and visitor center, where you can see what impact the last land battle on British soil had on the history of the country. Learn about the fight and how Bonnie Prince Charlie tried to regain the throne of Scotland. We’ll then have a short stop at Clava Cairns, the standing stones that were the inspiration for the Outlander Series of Books and the TV series by Diana Gabaldon. We’ll walk through the rocks and soak up the atmosphere before we continue south through the Cairngorm Mountains. We’ll have a visit to a local distillery, Dewars @ Aberfeldy, before we check into our hotel for the night in Aberfeldy. (Breakfast Included)

Travel to Glasgow

On this day, we’ll head west through the Tay Forest to the Scottish Crannog Center, at the top of Loch Tay, where we’ll visit the reconstructed Crannog and museum based on these ancient Round Houses. We’ll then continue along the length of Loch Tay to Balquhidder where we’ll stop at the graveyard of Rob Roy McGregor and visit the church as well. We’ll then head south past Stirling where we’ll see the Castle sitting high on the hill above the town and the Wallace Monument can be seen against the backdrop of the Perthshire hills. We’ll head to Glasgow to our hotel for the evening. Overnight Glasgow Airport Hotel. (Breakfast and Dinner Included)
