Travel to St. Andrew’s

We whisk you off from the city north across the Forth Bridge and into the Kingdom of Fife where we head to St Andrew’s the home of Golf. We have lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the Old Course followed by some free time to explore the Cathedral & Castle. Overnight St Andrew’s. Welcome Dinner Inc. (D)

Explore St Andrew’s or play Golf

After breakfast if we have any golfer’s they can go play one of the courses (must be pre-booked or go in Lottery), while the rest of the group go off on an adventure around Fife today. We visit the coastal towns of Anstruther and Crail, the quaint fishing villages along the coast, followed by a visit to Falkland Castle and gardens. and a visit by boat to Loch Leven Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned. Return to St. Andrew’s for another night. Overnight St. Andrew’s. (B)

Travel to Aberdeenshire

We head north east today up the coast of the North Sea with our first stop at Dundee, where you have some free time to explore the exciting redevelopment going on here. You can visit the brand new Victoria and Albert Museum opening late 2018 which is the only one outside of London. Or visit the tall ship RRS Discovery before we continue north to Dunottar Castle, sitting out on a rock in the North Sea. We walk to the castle and back before we continue to Peterhead to our hotel for the evening. Overnight Peterhead. (B)

Explore Aberdeenshire

Today we explore the the Lighthouse Museum at Fraserburgh, then we head over to Keith where we visit Strathisla Distillery, one of the most quaint distilleries in Scotland. We then stop at Fyvie, the most haunted castle in Scotland for a tour of this beautiful property. We return back to Peterhead for the night. Overnight Peterhead (B)

Explore Dolphin Coast, Overnight Inverness area.

After breakfast we head along the Dolphin Coast then on to Pennan, the small village on the sea that was filmed in Local Hero, before we head to Portsoy where they hold the Traditional Boat Festival each year in the quaint harbour. On to Portknockie where we walk out to see Bow Fiddle Rock, a rock formation that looks like the Bow of a Fiddle. We then stop in Elgin where we have time to visit the ruins of the Cathedral and/or Johnstone’s Woollen mill shop. We continue west along the coast towards Inverness, with our final stop of the day at Culloden Battlefield, we hear the history of this Haunted Moor where the last land battle on British soil took place. We then make a quick stop at Clava Cairns, the standing stones and burial cairns which were the inspiration for Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander Series. We stay on the outskirts of the city for the evening. (B)

Travel to Glasgow

Today we visit Urquhart Castle, once one of the largest castles in Scotland on the shores of Loch Ness. We drive along the side of the Loch so you have a chance to spot Nessie. We stop for lunch in Ft William at the foot of Ben Nevis, before we continue south through the beautiful scenery of the Trossachs to the banks of Loch Lomond where we stop for an afternoon drink at the Drover’s Inn, one of the oldest in the area. We head down the side of Loch Lomond to Glasgow, where we spend the last night in Scotland at a hotel at the airport for our morning flight to Dublin. Overnight Glasgow.

Travel to Dublin Airport

This morning we depart for Dublin. Free afternoon to explore the city with a 2-day local double decker bus tour ticket that covers both days in the city so you can see everything that you want and more. Overnight Dublin. (B)

Day to Explore Dublin

After your Good Irish Breakfast, you can get your bus ticket and head off to see more sites, such as Guinness Factory, Kilmahoan Gael (Jail), The Book of Kells, Trinity College and shop on the famous streets of Dublin, enjoying pubs and restaurants. Tonight, we have dinner and a show at the Abbey Tavern Banquet. Overnight Dublin,(BD)

Travel to Cobh

We depart this morning and head south west to Kilkenny where you have some time to explore the town’s Medieval Mile area, featuring Castles, a round tower, historical homes and Smithwicks Brewery among other places. After our visit we drive an hour to our next stop at the famous Rock of Cashel, once the seat of the High Kings of Munster, and was known as St Patricks Rock. We spend some time learning the history of this very old historical site in Co. Tipperarry. After our visit here we depart to Cobh (pronounced Cove). We check into our hotel for the evening and enjoy this quaint Irish town on the water. Dinner on your own. (B)

Travel to Killarney

After breakfast, we depart for the Blarney Woollen Mills where you can shop till you drop in this world famous Irish shopping area.
We then continue on to Killarney where we start our drive of the Ring of Kerry, one of Ireland’s most famous scenic routes. We drive along the amazing scenery stopping along the way, inc. a stop at Sneem with many photo moments along the route. Return through the Killarney National Forest to Killarney to our hotel for the evening. Overnight Killarney, Dinner on your own. (B)

Travel to Galway

After breakfast, we head north out of Killarney up towards Limerick and head across the Burren National park to the Cliffs of Moher, another famous Irish landmark where we can visit O’Briens Round Tower which gives us a great view of these amazing Cliffs. We continue on to Kilfenora where we learn the history of this area and then we drive through the barren grey scenery of the Burren, with it’s beautiful wild flowers growing through the rocks. Very unique area with some stunning scenery. We stop on the karstic limestone pavement of the Burren, and see one of the most famous Irish dolmens, Poulnabrone Dolman. This site dates back to 2500 BC. Overnight Galway (B)

Travel to Kylemore Abbey, Connemara

Today we head north into Connemara where we visit the beautiful Kylemore Abbey and drive through some stunning scenery in this area. We have afternoon Tea at Ashford Castle before we return to Galway for the evening. Overnight Galway. (B)

Return to Dublin

After breakfast, head east to Clonmacnoise, a round tower and Monastery located on the River Shannon. It has a small museum of standing stones, the ruins of the monastery, a tall round tower dates back to 544. A very interesting look at Irish history. We then continue back towards Dublin heading a bit north of the city to Newgrange, the large chamber tomb for a visit to this 5000 year old site. Continue on to Dublin to the airport hotel for our final night. Final night Dinner Inc. (BD)
